Conditions of Carriage of Pets

Overland Airways understands that sometimes our passengers need to travel with their pets. Please endeavor to inform us in advance of your plans to travel with your pet so that our Airline can confirm their transport or otherwise at least 24 hours in advance of your expected flight date to either your Travel Agent or through our call Centre or via our email address fly@overlandairways.com.

Small Dogs‚ Cats and Rabbits only.

Overland Airways shall only accept pets on our domestic routes and pets.

The following rules will guide the transportation of your pet if we accept carriage:

1.3.1 Overland Airways shall only consider pets for carriage as accompanied baggage.

1.3.2 Only such animals as; dogs‚ cats and rabbits will be considered for carriage as accompanied baggage by Overland Airways.

1.3.3 Flight bookings must be made and confirmed by Overland Airways at least 24hours before the intended flight time where a pet is to be carried.

1.3.4 Once accepted‚ the animal must remain throughout the whole flight in the animal container‚ an impermeable bag (appropriate for animals’ transportation) or cage supplied by the passenger where animal can stand up‚ rotate‚ or lay down naturally.

1.3.5 The floor of the animal container shall be covered with absorbent material. This will prevent the aircraft or passengers’ baggage from being contaminated with animal waste.

1.3.6 Only one pet shall be allowed on each flight.

1.3.7 All dogs must wear a muzzle before being accepted for carriage.

2.1 Pregnant female animals or animals who have given birth within Seven (7) days prior to the date of travel shall not be accepted.

2.2 Animal newborns which are less than 4 weeks old or have a body mass of less than 2kg shall not be accepted.

2.3 The weight of the animal together with its container shall not exceed 15kg (Pet + container); where the cumulative weight exceeds 15kg‚ carriage shall not be accepted.

3.11 Every passenger who is accompanied by a pet shall indemnify Overland Airways against any liabilities which may arise from the acceptance and carriage of his/her Pet by completing the Indemnity form provided.

3.12 Every passenger accompanied by a pet shall be responsible for appropriately marking and labelling the animal container with the Passenger name‚ PNR‚ specie/breed of animal etc.

3.13 Any Passenger who is accompanied by a pet shall advice the Airline of the gender of the animal presented‚ if such animal is female advise if animal is in Oestrus “heat” or pregnant.

3.14 A passenger who is accompanied by a pet shall be responsible for providing a suitable animal container which has amongst other features‚ a Spacer‚ appropriate ventilation openings‚ affixed food and water container‚ door lock etc.

3.15 Any passenger who is accompanied by a pet agrees to ensure that the animal is healthy‚ clean‚ odorless and does not constitute any danger whatsoever.

3.16 Shippers’ certificate for live animals must be completed by the passenger accompanied by a pet to confirm the health status of the animal.

3.17 Any passenger accompanied by a pet shall also present a Veterinary Card for confirmation by the Airline prior to the acceptance of the animal and complete the attached Indemnity Form.

3.18 Every passenger accompanied by a pet agrees to take full responsibility for and provide care for the Pet in the case of flight delay‚ diversion or night stop.
